Generally, symptoms said to be a result of burnout can also have other causes, for example mental or psychosomatic disorders like depression, anxiety disorders or chronic fatigue syndrome. but physical illnesses or certain medications can cause symptoms such as exhaustion and tiredness too.. While burnout isn’t a recognized clinical psychiatric or psychological disorder, there are some similar features between burnout and diagnosable conditions, such as depression, anxiety disorders, or mood disorders.however, burnout is much more common.. With burnout, this is equivalent to an adjustment disorder, where you start to have symptoms of anxiety and/or depression, but it is not full-blown anxiety disorder or major depressive disorder yet. so when you have burnout, then you are at risk for the development of an anxiety disorder or major depressive disorder (which are really two sides.
